Lisa Gade reviews the Asus ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML), an affordable Android unlocked smartphone. We look at both the US version that will be available on Amazon for $199 or $299 depending on configuration and the international (Taiwan) version supplied by the importer GearBest ( The ZenFone 2 is an unlocked GSM phone, so you can use it with any GSM carrier (both AT&T and T-Mobile 4G LTE are supported in the US model). The phone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with a bundle of Asus and 3rd party apps, and it has a full HD 1920 x 1080 IPS display with 400 PPI. The $199 model runs on the 1.8 GHz Intel Z3560 quad core 64 bit CPU with 2 gigs of RAM and 16 gigs of storage, while the $299 model runs on the 2.3 GHz Intel Z3580 CPU with 4 gigs of dual channel RAM and 64 gigs of storage. The 2.3 GHz model is quite fast! Both use Power VR G6430 graphics, have a microSD card slot and dual SIM card slots so you can use two micro SIM cards in the phone if you wish. The phone has dual band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and a GPS with GLONASS. It has a 3,000 mAh battery that supports quick charging, a front 5MP camera and a very good rear 13MP camera with quite a few features and effects. ** Read our full written review here:
