Archaeologists discover a city, more than 2,000 years ago in Iran
A further underground city, two millennia ago was dug up in the province of Hamadan, according to the Iranian news agency Payvand News.
The underground city consists of a series of tunnels connecting 25 houses, which were probably the houses of different families.
Speaking to Khabar online in the official said the ancient city was about 2000 years old, was built in the course of the transitional years between the fall of the Persian empire under the Achaemenid dynasty.
In addition, they found a total of nine rooms where they discovered the remains of 60 people.
According to Ali Khaksar, head of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Crafts and Tourism Hamadan, the underground city is under what is now the city of Samen.
The discovery was made thanks to the efforts of a group of archaeologists who have worked in the region for more than 10 years.
