The Inami Laboratory of the Graduate School of Media Design at Keio University demonstrated an optical camouflage system, which enables people to experience to become an invisible person, at Digital Content Expo 2008, an exhibition held at Tokyos National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation for the digital content industry between October 23 and 26.
The recursive reflective material will pave the way for applications to observe the outside from the inside in realtime. For instance, it will enable the driver of a vehicle to see the outside scene by coating the material inside the vehicle, placing a camera outside the vehicle, and projecting the external images to the inside. It will also become possible to eliminate blind corners by making the inside of a cockpit visible by applying the material so the pilot can land the aircraft by observing the runway.
