Pieces of debris spotted in the Java Sea near where AirAsia Flight 8501 went missing on Sunday have been confirmed to be from the missing plane, the airline confirmed on Tuesday.
Indonesian officials coming off a helicopter on Borneo Tuesday said they have recovered bodies floating in waters near the area where flight 8501 lost contact on Sunday. The debris and the bodies were discovered in an area 105 nautical miles from Pangkalan Bun and 6 miles from the flight path.
