Lisa Gade reviews the Acer Predator Helios 300, Acer’s relatively affordable 15.6” and 17.3” gaming laptops with NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 dedicated graphics and the 7th generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ quad core, 45 watt CPU. We look at the 15” model that starts at $1,100 with 16GB RAM, a 1920 x 1080 matte IPS display and a 256GB M.2 SSD. The Helios 300 has a backlit keyboard, Microsoft Precision trackpad, Dolby audio and strong Qualcomm Atheros WiFi 802.11ac.
This gaming notebook is relatively slim and light at 5.95 lb. /1.7kg and 29mm thick. It’s worth a serious look if you want a laptop that can handle the most demanding games on high settings.
