Using a massive ship, China is making islands.
The Tian Kun Hao, named after a legendary sea creature, can dig up to 200,000 cubic feet per hour. The landmasses that the ship creates are capable of supporting military bases.
So far, China has built seven new islands in the South China Sea. The areas are now claimed by several other countries.
Could this expansion be a sign that China is emboldened enough to seek influence in an already tense region?
