By popular demand (a lot) I test and comment on the .300 Blackout cartridge. You hear about it everywhere, it is highly funded in the industry, the forums are in love with it, and it’s the latest rage with some highly touted “tactical instructors.” What is the reality behind the “300 BLACK?” Is is “combat effective easily to 750 meters” as some say? Would it be my first choice in chambering a new AR-15? How does it compare economically, ballistically, in SAWC, and practically against the 7.62x39mm, the .308, the .223? Is it good for long range? How about home defense? Why hasn’t the military adopted this round yet Nutn?! These questions and more are addressed IN FIELD with non-edited shooting. You’ll see the .300 Blackout realities in long range and they are discussed.d The weapon platform is the excellent FN Tactical AR-15 in .300 Black. Shooting is done from improvised location as it often is in TNP. In the end you might find .300 Blackout is good as what is set out to do: be a short to medium range cartridge that suppresses nicely.
