You can now chat with yourself via WhatsApp by sending messages to your own account. Keeping a piece of information readily accessible right next to your other WhatsApp conversations might be one way to utilise this new feature.

Users can send notes, reminders, and shopping lists to themselves via WhatsApp using the feature dubbed “Message Yourself.”

The new messaging feature that will be available to all of Meta’s Android and iPhone users in the coming weeks is being rolled out now. According to WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp beta tracker, the feature was being tested with some beta testers in late October. A company representative confirmed to TechCrunch that the feature has been made available worldwide.

When you create a new WhatsApp chat, the person you want to talk to the most will appear at the top of your contacts list. You can tap that person to directly navigate to the chat screen where you can message yourself.

Some users have been employing a workaround to self-chat on WhatsApp for some time now. You may already have sent yourself messages using the app’s “click to chat” function. With the new function, users will no longer have to use the wa.me URL to send themselves a message.

Users can also pin their self-chat messages to the top of the conversation list if they don’t want to search through their polluted chat list.

Signal’s Note to Self function is comparable to WhatsApp’s just launched feature, except that it does not place your own profile at the top of the recipient list. It lets you compose messages for personal use. Users must look for and select the “Note to Self” selection on the contact list to utilise the function.

Slack also has a dedicated area named “Jot Something Down” where users can send notes to themselves.

Users can bookmark any important messages as well as save their notes and reminders using Telegram’s Saved Messages feature. From the top of chat screens, users can access previously saved messages. To enable this feature on Android devices, you must tap the hamburger menu, while on iOS devices you must use the settings menu.
