Samsung Galaxy S9 to launch next month; here’s what to expect

Samsung has witnessed a lot of ups and downs in the span of last two years. The South-Korean technology giant, Samsung had a difficult time in 2016 due to its Note 7 fiasco. The company, however, made a grand return to the smartphone market with the introduction of the Galaxy S8 smartphone.

The handset packed stunning features and a great design aesthetics – strong enough to take on its arch-rival Apple’s flagship offering as well. Samsung is currently preparing for the launch of Galaxy S8’s successor, Galaxy S9 smartphone. Leading rumors suggest that the device will be unveiled at the official CES event, expected to take place next month.

As noted by Mirror, if this ends up turning out to be true then Samsung will be launching its Galaxy S9 smartphone an entire month earlier than its traditional launch date. The smartphone is expected to go on sale from March onward. A report by Bloomberg reads, “The South Korea-based technology giant plans to introduce the new models, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, as early as late February and release the devices as early as March, according to the people familiar with the matter. The new phones will be similar to the current Galaxy models, but include upgraded camera systems, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans are private.”

As far as the price is concerned, it will be pretty similar to its predecessor. The Samsung Galaxy S8 at the moment, is available for a starting price of $800. The Galaxy S9 will also be around $800 as well.

When the design aspect is considered, the handset will carry a completely bezel-less front panel with a dual rear camera system. The smartphone will run on Android 8.0 Oreo and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip. The fingerprint scanner will be located on the rear panel, right below the handset’s camera system.
