HP Spectre X360 2019 Is Slimmest & Thinner Ultrabook

Published on October 8, 2019

The HP Spectre x360 has been a popular 2 in 1 laptop as well as the top Ultrabook computers among competitors. The laptop flagship of HP fundamentally laid the foundation for the modern age of the 2-in-1 laptops. And it appears that the 2019 model will continue to keep the trend.

The footprint has become smaller as the HP Spectre x360 has shaved up the bezels around the display. Additionally, the redesigned Spectre x360 is equipped with latest technology. Furthermore, we can’t wait to carry on in our backpack with the lightweight design and new webcam.

It’s 2019 and every day the best laptops and Ultrabook improve with more high specifications. The main question here, therefore, is: what makes HP Spectre x360 2019 best than others?

Price and Availability

You should note that this is one of the best laptop flagship, so you must deal with a high price tag.

In comparison to Dell XPS 13, 2-in-1, which starts at $999 (£1,649 and AU$ 2,698), the Spectre HP x360 starts at $1,099, and falls pretty much in a line. This makes it a costly device, so you might want to look elsewhere if you are looking for a laptop under $500. But who know that during seasonal sales, like Black Friday, you might find it cheaper.

The Intel Iris Plus graphics and Intel Core i7-1065G7 is assembled in both models. An upgrade to 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD is the only difference between the two models.

Design

The HP Spectre x360 body is slim and beautiful. These laptops were always good in design, but this time HP really set the bar higher.

The screen to body ratio is 90% in Spectre x360 2019 model. The colorful OLED and bright panel keep the user away from the distraction.  It will certainly be a win-win for anyone seeking a device to watch Netflix.

The 2018 model is much thinner than the 2019 model. You’d think the thinner design would cause the problems in keyboard and trackpad, but that’s not the case. It offers one of the most comfortable keyboard on the market.

Although HP was able to fit an IR camera into its top lens even with an impressive 90 percent display-to-body relationship. It implies that you will not need to display nose content to a person you are calling with unlike Dell XPS, but it also means that the new HP Spectre x360 is Windows Hello facial compatible now. There’s no fingerprint scanner, but at least some form of biometric login is still available.

The only thing we could find for complain is that there are no ports. Well, please don’t get us wrong, we’re glad that there is still a single USB-A port and headphone jack at HP Spectre x360, but there’s only one USB-C port available. We’re going to pay HP credit for not using the USB-C port only like Apple, but it is still terribly restrictive.

Graphics

Because the Spectre x360’s graphics performance is based on an integrated Intel UHD 620 GPU, the Ultrabook is average. You won’t face problems with heavy software like Adobe Photoshop and even with low settings playing modern games, but a discrete GPU needs to be used to do more graphics work.

On the 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited graphics test, the HP Spectrum recorded a 90.977 grade. The competition was crushed by the disconnect GeForce MX150 GPU in the MateBook 13 (141,995) which was the top averaging category (88,194) and two other laptops equipped with the Gram 14,2-in-1 (87,220), Yoga C930 (85,768), and Intel UHD 620.

Similar results have been seen with the Dirt 3 competition game. Species x360 which played a game of 56 frames per second (above our 30 fps threshold), was a smooth drifting around hairpin turn. This ratio is higher than that achieved by Gram 142-in-1 (51 fps) and Yoga C930 (37 fps) but by far, it was the best game experience than the MateBook 13 (165 fps).

Performance

The laptop is equipped for up to 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD storage with Intel Core i7-1065G7. So you’ll you not only get the LTE and Wi-Fi 6 modem out of the computer, but the more powerful graphics of Intel Iris should be even able to play light games. However, it is more aimed at getting light graphics on the go.

HP claims that the charging will last 22 hours and, while we will think it is noticeably longer what we see it than in 2018. This is an Ultrabook at the end of the day and we anticipate that it will give a tough competition with the latest and biggest brands like the Dell XPS13.

Early verdict

The HP x360 2019 Spectre is just as good as previous models if not better. It’s thinner, lighter and has one of the most lovely laptop screens we have ever seen. We don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t buy this laptop since it’s one of the best out there on the market.
