Apple Set to Reveal New iPhones at September 9 Event: ‘It’s Glowtime’
Apple has officially announced that its highly anticipated iPhone-focused event will take place on Monday, September 9, at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. The event, scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., will see select media members in attendance.
This annual event will showcase the new iPhone 16 lineup, updated Apple Watch models, and the AirPods 4. Additionally, Apple will provide official release dates for iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and other software updates.
The new iPhone 16 models are expected to feature a customizable Action Button and a Capture Button for photography, offering gestures like swipe-to-zoom and soft press for autofocus. The Capture Button will be positioned on the right side of the device, below the power button.
All iPhone 16 models will be powered by the A18 chip, enabling support for Apple Intelligence features in iOS 18. While the standard models are not expected to introduce major new features, the Pro versions will see an increase in display sizes—from 6.1 and 6.7 inches to 6.3 and 6.9 inches for the Pro and Pro Max, respectively. The 5x Telephoto zoom, previously exclusive to the Pro Max, will now be available on both Pro models.
As for the Apple Watch, the Series 10 is anticipated to have a thinner design with a larger display, though the changes are expected to be subtle. Apple will also refresh the Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Ultra, with potential new health features like sleep apnea detection and blood pressure monitoring. However, it remains uncertain if these features will be ready for this year’s release.
The AirPods 4 will come in two versions: one as a direct successor to the AirPods 3 and another with Active Noise Cancellation at a non-Pro price point.
Apple will stream the event live on its website, YouTube, and the Apple TV app. For those unable to watch, MacRumors will offer comprehensive coverage on MacRumors.com and through the MacRumorsLive Twitter account.
