Xiaomi Mi A1 smartphone updated with Android Oreo 8.0

Xiaomi has reportedly begun the official roll-out of the latest Android 8.0 Oreo software update for Mi A1 smartphone. The handset was introduced sometime last year, as a part of Google’s Android One program. The smartphone at that time was running on Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system. Xiaomi at that time even promised all Mi A1 smartphone owners that the handsets will be updated with the Oreo update towards the end of 2017. It’s good to know that Xiaomi has lived up to its promise. The latest Android Oreo software update has been released through an over-the-air (OTA) update on December 31.

According to a report published by Gadgets 360, Xiaomi took to its official MIUI Forum to announce the news. The post informs users to install the 7.12.19 software version (Android Nougat) at first in order to be eligible for the over-the-air update to Android Oreo (version 7.12.29). The updated package is in 1107.4MB in size and goes on to include the December Android security patch. There are a lot of other newer features that come with the same. Apart from this, the Chinese company has even added the option of an adaptive application icon. This is included along with a faster boot experience as well. Interested users can check the availability of the Android 8.0 Oreo update for their Mi A1 smartphones by going to the ‘Settings’ option and checking the ‘Software’ update section of it. As noted in the report by Gadgets 360, the Xiaomi Mi A1 smartphone is the first such offering in the entire Mi family to receive the Android Oreo update.
