I n the last several decades, eyewitness testimony has come under greater scrutiny. Since 1989, some 329 people have been exonerated based on DNA tests, according to the Innocence Project, a nonprofit legal organization. Each of the wrongfully convicted spent an average of 16 years in prison, and 75% of them were put away largely on the basis of eyewitness testimony.
