Last month Vocativ released a video about street harassment. It has been viewed nearly 3 million times, and has generated a firestorm of comments on YouTube and social media.
For some viewers, the piece provided a spotlight on an underreported topic facing women in urban environments. To others, it went too far in conflating acts of verbal harassment and sexual assault. Others still decried it as feminist propaganda, and an infringement on men’s rights to free speech in public spaces.
