Shotgun WAX SLUGS? MUCH cooler than they sound!04:33

It is very hard to find any ammo right now, from .22lr to pistol rounds like 9mm. .223 is nearly impossible. 12 and 20 ga. Birdshot loads are easier to find. In this video we show how to convert those into one of the most powerful user-modified rounds you can get.

This mod adds a heavy-end and a light-end to the wax slug in order to cause the slug to fly without tumbling.
This makes the slug about 1/4″ longer, but since the additional space if filled with JUST wax, the weight of the shell is almost identical to an unmodified birdshot shell.

There are a lot of videos on how to make wax slugs, but I haven’t seen anyone make them like I do. Using some simple changes, we were able to create a more stabilized round using basic principles used in aeronautics- adjusting the CG (center of gravity). We trimmed back the wadding stem about 1/4″ in order to give space for the additional wax- not shot. The slug is only a few grams heavier than a standard load for this shell.

As with any improvised rounds you may see on the internet, only you can determine if something is safe to shoot. If you are nervous about it, don’t do it.

IN FACT……
I read a posting at AR15.com about someone’s shotgun blowing up from using wax slugs.
There is a lot of speculation about the cause. The shotgun was a Maveric (the econo-line from Mossberg). Some say he may have shot a squib (the primer didn’t ignite the powder, but caused a barrel obstruction)

Again, I stress, use these at your own caution.
