Note: I paid 50RMB but realized later I could have received a 10rmb discount if i showed them my plane itinerary. Shanghai Maglev Train (SMT) has been operated since the end of 2002 and is the world’s first and only commercialized maglev train line in operation. It runs from Pudong International Airport to Longyang Rd. Station (line 7 & 2) located in Pudong New Area.

Must try ! Absolutely unique. The speed of Maglev depends on the time of travel and also the interval/waiting time between Maglev differs based on the time of travel , Maglev travels in a range of 300-431 kmph. Look at official website for all the information about Maglev , it has all the information required. I travelled from Longyang Rd. Station to Pudong Airport Station . Subway/Metro（Metro Line 2,7）can be used to reach Longyang Rd subway Station. Get down from subway 1F , ticketing counter and check on 2F, Maglev on 3F. Those who are taking a flight from Pudong Airport on the same day can enjoy discount on the ticket price. English speaking staff at the ticket counter. Feel of Roller Coaster ride , no doubt you will feel the speed and lot of vibration. Without image stabilization in the camera , too hard to take a still photo or video , try at the speed more than 400kmph.There are no seat numbers assigned, so take any seat anywhere you want.Even those who have experienced bullet train/TGV , be assured – Maglev experience is absolutely unique. Maglev , has only 2 stops – Longyang Road Station &Pudong Airport Station. Enjoy the thrilling experience of Maglev in 8 mins.

The Maglev cuts the time it’ll take you to go to the Pudong airport by half (or more). It’s efficient, and clean and really well worth the price. The Longyang station where I took the Maglev from had very good facilities, but is in need of more English signs to guide foreign travellers. We were left figuring out if the train we were taking was the right one, because there were no signages at the station and nobody to ask once at the platform.

This super speed train travels from the airport into city centre. I travelled from Shanghai city centre just for the experience. And it was brilliant. Purchase a return ticket, pass through a security check similar to at an airport and then wait on the platform – enthusiasts are taking photos all the time .! The train travels at different speeds throughout the day so check timetable before you travel. The train reaches speeds of 430km per hour – try and take a photo at that speed !!!!!!!!!!!!!
