Printing & Painting Transformers Decepticons Logo in 3D on Ultimaker 3D Printer

Published on May 31, 2017

This is a follow-up video to printing the autobot badge and I use some new techniques like creating a raft to prevent it from pulling away from the build platform as it cools. I plan to get a heated bed in the future but I am waiting for Ultimaker to release and official upgrade before doing that.

This print is done at 0.15m layer height and takes a little over an hour at 122% print speed. The Ultimaker has proven to be super reliable and I have literally not had to do anything but clear one nozzle clog through an entire roll of PLA (2.2kg).

My end goal is to polish this model once the paint cures for a week and see if I can get the surface like a mirror and if I do I am going to put some 3M double stick tape on it and put it on my 2005 Subaru WRX STI as a badge since someone stole my STI logo 😛
