My friend Sperkowsky wanted to play some Minecraft Hunger Games and I had not played Minecraft in months (let alone this mod) and was curious to try it. As you can tell from the video I’m absolutely the worst player that has ever played the game. I still had a massive amount of fun playing and can’t wait to play again!
Sometimes movies or books can influence people to do great things, amazing things. Sometimes the most simplest of ideas can result in an amazing piece of work, both unique and entertaining. For example often adventure maps might be based on a specific movie or text. Like anything, if it done right, players who use it will often give good feedback and overall the work will have been a success. It started as a game, then a map, nows it’s a mod. The Hunger Games Mod for Minecraft 1.6.4
By taking the amazing idea from the Hungergames book the creator has developed an amazing new mod which allows you to experience minecraft to a whole new level. Realistically compete in the hunger games, along side some amazing features. The mod itself contains a huge variety of features that will change how you look at minecraft forever. When using the hunger games mod, you are given the choice to compete against other competeters from the book in your world to win the title of victor and gain a customisable prize. However you will risk losing your world forever and everything you have worked hard for.
The Hunger Games Mod for Minecraft 1.6.4 introduces new items and weapons to the game. All of which will benefit you in different ways when competing in the games. When starting a new world you will begin with a token which will allow you to start the games. Or you can simply craft it by following the simple recipe. The names of your competitors can be changed by using a unique and creative feature the mod contains. The names of your competitors can be your friends, celebrities or simply random names, school friends, work colleagues. It’s up to you, the player. To change the name s of your competitors, a file within .minecraft can be found called ‘thgm2_nameGroups.txt’. Inside this file holds all of the default names that your competitors will begin with. For example, Katniss and Peeta, Foxface and Cato. To change a name; simply rename the default names to your likings.
When starting the games, you will be teleported to one of many different platforms surrounding the Cornucopia, the central monument. The Cornucopia will hold many containers that hold different items, food, armour and weapons that you can use to slay your enemy’s. When starting the games, you, (after right clicking with your token in hand.) a new GUI will appear on your screen. This GUI will allow you to customise some of the features of the game, such as spawning distance, difficulty, mutts (new mobs types), and the prize at the end. Be careful when deciding to start a game, if you die, your world will be deleted, and there is no going back. If you are a risk taker, just be sure to backup your worlds before attempting to compete. The games are designed to be difficult, an it is no surprise, so be careful and good luck. When competing, often a “sponsor” will send you a gift. Sponsors will send you gifts more, if you are doing relatively well in the match. Sponsor gifts can contain anything.
Crafting Recipes
As mentioned earlier, this mod also introduces new items, blocks and weapons for you to use when competing in the games. They can be either crafted or simply found in and outside of the arena. These new items have been made to benefit you and add a new theme to the game. Different fighting techniques can now be used when attempting to slay other competitors. The different weapons that are introduced are:
Throwing Knife
Poisoned throwing knife
Spear
NPC weapon drops
