This isn’t your average motorcycle club, unless your motorcycle club is comprised of black women in South Africa…in that case this one is pretty average.
In yet another sign of change since the end of apartheid, these women of mixed age and profession have bonded over their love of the open road.
The Angels, as they call themselves, have ventured out on long rides across the country, and put their sisterhood behind social causes like donating supplies to children’s homes and to girls in need.
There are now more than 400 black female bikers in South Africa…and they’re leaving the men in the dust.
