The United Nations is teaching Iraqi children how to identify hidden mines and bombs as they return to Mosul.

Although ISIS has been driven out of the city, hidden mines and bombs still remain. The U.N. is teaching children and their families to identify remaining mines so that mine clearing workers can remove them. By doing this, these children and families could help Iraqi citizens save their own lives.

The organization originally estimated the cost of removing mines from the country could top $50 million this year alone — a figure that could easily double once Mosul is factored in.
