Homemade Fan!. The DIY “home depot” DC Powered Desk Fan!. stand made w/PVC. fan blade made with a 5 gallon bucket lid. uses standard DC hobby motor (optimal power requirement 3V-6V 350ma) Fan moves as much (or more) air as any “store bought” one of equal size. video contains simple instructions on how to build w/emphasis on how to shape and mold the fan blade (for maximum airflow). can be run on at least 5 different types of power supplies. almost any 3v-6v DC power supply will work, including: standard/wall mount versions, dry cell batteries (2 AAA, AA, C, or D), a small solar panel or even a usb cable (just strip one end of cable, attach it to the fan and plug other end into usb slot on computer). tip on installing motor: motors of this type will typically fit “loosely” into a 3/4″ PVC 90 degree elbow joint. *to make the motor fit snugly in the pipe just wrap it with tape. *i used strips of black duct tape (cut to match the length of the motor). then just wrap it around the motor a few times and push motor into pipe
