A Neodymium rare Earth magnet burns readily at 150 °C, magnets form neodymium oxide.
This observation was noted while drilling through Neodymium hard drive magnets with a drill bit designed for glass hole drilling. The friction causes the Neodymium to burn/spark and because of the magnetic attraction the entire pile of magnet dust becomes molten.
If you need to drill Neodymium Magnets, submerge in water prior to the drilling process. Drill bits designed for glass work best as they allow for a good pilot start and they do not grab, cracking the magnet.
