GPM Satellite Sees Tropical Depression 9 Dropping Heavy Rainfall04:33

On Aug. 29 at 2:56 a.m. EDT GPM showed that precipitation was intense in convective storms in Tropical Depression 9 over the western side of Cuba. GPM revealed that some showers were coming down at a rate of greater than 7.6 inches (193.514 mm) per hour. Those storms had cloud heights above 9.9 miles (16 km). Credit: NASA/JAXA, Hal Pierce
