As tall as a ten-story building and nearly as large as a football field – offshore converter platforms in the North Sea.
Weighing 25,000 tons each, the massive high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) systems help transport power from offshore wind farms to the mainland with minimal loss.
The converter platforms that Siemens has built for TenneT can provide clean electricity for about 800,000 households.
