Meet the Fantom, the Ukrainian robot tank designed specifically to fight Russians.
The tank, which is Ukraine’s first armed unmanned ground vehicle, was created to fight Russian-backed forces in the ongoing conflict between the two nations. Operated remotely, the Fantom is outfitted with backup microwave communication links that would allow it to continue operating in case of a hack.
With unmanned ground vehicles looked at as the future of combat, countries like Russia and the U.S. are developing robot tanks of their own. Ukraine says the Fantom could be used on battlefields as early as next year.
