This unusual and very beautiful dropping top is hand made from Sandarac wood and African Blackwood. A dropping top has an unusual method of being launched. The string (supplied) loops around the wooden cleat at the top, and is given an initial twist. You then suspend the top from the string, pulling the ends apart in order to make the top spin faster, and moving your hands together before the string has completely unwound. Once you have done this a couple of times, and the top is spinning sufficiently fast, you then move your hands apart, and the top will be released from the string and will land, still spinning, on the table. See the video for a full demonstration.

Hand made to a very high standard of craftsmanship, this top is made from two unusual woods, Sandarac Burl and African Blackwood.

The top is 85mm in diameter.

Supplied complete with string.
