Building Freedom: The Heartland’s Shipyard

Marinette, Wisconsin and Menominee, Michigan are separated by a river, a state line and a heck of a football rivalry. Since 1942, these small towns have shared a common bond and purpose – shipbuilding. Today, they have united to build the Navy’s next generation Freedom-variant Littoral Combat Ships at the Midwest’s only naval shipyard. Building Freedom tells the story of these hardworking shipbuilders and the manufacturing communities across the Midwest depending on them.
