Lisa Gade looks at four top choices for gaming laptops starting around $750 to $850. Thanks to NVIDIA Pascal 10 series graphics, budget gaming laptops with GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti graphics cards perform well enough to play recent titles decently and even well for DirectX 12 games like Mass Effect Andromeda and Battlefield 1. All the models we look at use those graphics cards and they have Intel 7th generation Kaby Lake quad core, 45 watt CPUs with 8GB DDR4 RAM (all are upgradable to 16GB). They have large HDDs, optional SSDs, red backlit keyboards and full HD 1920 x 1080 displays.
