Although Apple has recently launched and introduced their new glass backing for the iPhone 8 series and with the iPhone X, the company might take a step back with their upcoming 2018 iPhone. This new design choice shall be the future body design for the iPhones, which shall moreover look like the previous versions of iPhones.

Apple might even release their new 6.1 inch long LCD iPhones, along with a 5.8 inch OLED version and with a 6.3 inch OLED iPhones by next year. From these possible variations of iPhones that shall release by next year, the 6.1-inch model shall get the new metal backing installed on them.

Starting from the iPhone 5 till the iPhone 7, the Apple phone has been sporting out with a piece of metal on their rear casings, but the new iPhone 8 and the baseless iPhone X has changed things with a glass backing installed on the back part of the phone. This unique design move by Apple was initially said to facilitate the new wireless charging on the new iPhone devices, yet, with the introduction of metal casting back from next year, the wireless charging facility shall be made available or not, which is not clear at the moment.

The primary advantage of having a metal casting is about durability and with consistent drop tests done for the recent versions of iPhones, it was the back part of the phones that first got cracked up.
