An extremely difficult surgery has received a robotic upgrade.
A surgical robot developed in the Netherlands worked side by side with human doctors, connecting tiny lymphatic vessels to veins. The Microsure robot converts the motions of surgeons’ hands into more precise, tremor-free movements.
The robot is the first of its kind to perform this surgery, successfully alleviating a painful condition that occurs as a result of cancer treatments. It’s such a dangerous surgery that only a handful of human surgeons are even willing to do it.
Luckily, the patient that underwent this surgery is recovering well, thanks to Robo Doc’s steady hands.
