2017年2月6日：陸上自衛隊･西部方面普通科連隊とアメリカ海兵隊･第13海兵遠征部隊との日米合同軍事演習「アイアン・フィスト2017」開会式：アメリカ・カリフォルニア州のキャンプ・ペンドルトン。
今年で12回目の開催となるアイアン・フィスト演習は、陸上自衛隊の島嶼部での防衛・作戦能力の向上、米軍との相互連携などを目的に毎年行われている。

U.S. Marines with 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (13th MEU) and Japan Ground Self Defense force (JGSDF) with Western Army Infantry Regiment participate in the opening ceremony of exercise Iron Fist 2017 (IF17) aboard Camp Pendleton, California, Feb. 06, 2017. Iron Fist is an annual, bilateral training exercise where U.S. and Japanese service members train together and share techniques, tactics and procedures to improve their combined operational capabilities. IF17 marks the 12th year of the exercise.
